Elf Owl
The Elf Owl is described by the Audubon Guide to North American Birds as the tiniest owl in the world, no larger than a sparrow. A resident of the Sonoran Desert, it feeds on insects and other invertebrates, migrating into Mexico for the winter. These images were captured at the Arizona-Sonora Desert Museum in November of 2016.
