White-crowned Sparrow
White-crowned Sparrows winter throughout the United States, breeding during the summer months in western Canada and further north. They are a large sparrow with a small bill and long tail. Mature birds have bold black and white stripes on the head, with a pink or yellow bill. The immature birds, such as the two below, have brown markings on the head.
