Green-tailed Towhee
The Green-tailed Towhee is a large colorful sparrow of the west seen here at Cave Creek in SE Arizona. The birds forage on the ground, and have a reputation of being hard to spot. We were lucky this day as they were up very close, allowing me to fill the camera's frame and capture more detail than usual. More great photos of this species by Tom Grey at his site, here.
